Study and Fellowship Groups

There are a number of small group activities which welcome any who wish to participate.  Some of these involve Bible Study, others are more directed to getting to know each other and share in fun activities.

Weekday Bible Study:  Pastor Larry Warren leads small group studies of various Bible-based curricula such as DISCIPLE Bible Study on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:00 pm. at various times during the year.

Wesleyan Study Group
:  Now known as the Upper Room Group, the members meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons at 12:45 for sharing of prayer concerns, Scripture reflection, and interpersonal support and caring. (This is a closed group.)

Yokefellow Group:  This long standing group was begun by a former pastor, Gene Hibbard, many years ago, but is very loyal to the task of mutual sharing and caring. (This is a closed group.)

United Methodist Women:  The women's organization of the church centers its activity around support of local, national and foreign mission projects. They meet on the fourth Saturday of each month at 10:00 am at the church. Their annual Holiday Bazaar is an event looked forward to by many in the larger community as well.

United Methodist Men:  The Summit-Lakewood United Methodist Men's group shares breakfast and Bible study at 8:00 am at the church on the second Saturday of the month and participates in such activities as church work days, "Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful," and an annual all church family night at a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game.

The "Red Hat Society": A fun loving group of senior women from the church and community who have luncheon programs and activities together in their famous attire of red and purple.

Recovery Groups:  The church provides space for a number of groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, where addicts and family members can find help overcoming the problems caused by addiction. These are confidential groups using twelve-step programs well known all over the country for their positive results. Check the calendar for days and times.

Scouting:  The United Methodist Men sponsor Cub Scout Pack 509 which meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm at the church.
